Wedding photography prices in Kenya: what couples can expect in 2026
Start your wedding budget with a realistic range
Wedding photography prices in Kenya vary because couples are not buying the same coverage. A civil ceremony and lunch in one location requires a different plan from two preparation venues, a church service, a portrait session and a reception continuing late into the evening.
For 2026 planning, Shammah Media uses the estimated ranges below. They are positioned for professional, service-led coverage and are not fixed package promises. Your written quotation will reflect your date, venues, programme, team, travel and finished products.
Shammah Media estimated wedding prices for 2026
These estimates are effective 4 August 2026. Albums, frames, canvas prints, drone coverage, travel, accommodation, permits, venue fees and urgent outputs are additional unless your quotation includes them explicitly. The signed quotation always takes priority over this guide.
Published Kenyan packages show why scope matters. Current examples include photography-only wedding coverage at KES 85,000 from Miritis Delight and photography packages from KES 70,000 to KES 200,000 from Rubani Pix , with team size and physical products changing between tiers. Shammah Media’s range uses those visible market signals as a benchmark; it does not represent past Shammah bookings.

What changes the price of wedding photography?
Coverage hours
The start and finish determine which parts of the day can be photographed. “Full day” is not precise enough: a quotation should state the reporting location, exact hours and what happens if the programme runs late.
Number of photographers
One photographer cannot cover two distant preparation locations at the same time. A second photographer can also document guests, details and reactions while the lead photographer follows the main programme. Your quotation identifies the proposed team.
Locations and travel time
Preparation, ceremony, portraits and reception may happen in different places. Distance, traffic, parking, venue access and movement between locations affect the workable schedule and may affect the price.
Wedding programme and guest experience
Large family groups, simultaneous activities, cultural ceremonies and a detailed reception programme require more coordination. Guest count matters, but the sequence and number of priority moments often matter more.
Editing and delivery
Pricing also reflects image selection, colour and exposure editing, additional retouching, file resolution, gallery or transfer method and the expected delivery window. “All photos” is not a useful definition of the finished work.
Albums, frames and canvas prints
Physical products add image selection, design, family approval, materials, production and delivery. A quotation that includes a photobook cannot be compared fairly with digital-only coverage by looking only at the total price.
Travel and accommodation
Work outside Nairobi may require transport, accommodation, meals, parking, permits or an additional travel day. Share exact venue locations so these costs can be identified before booking.
Photography and video together
A combined package includes different crew roles and outputs. Compare the number of photographers and videographers, film length, audio coverage, trailer, delivery and any drone work—not simply the combined headline figure. See wedding videography in Kenya for the video planning details.
Build one wedding brief before comparing quotations
Send the same brief to every provider you are comparing. When the underlying request is consistent, differences in team, hours, products and terms become easier to see.
• Wedding date and current programme
• Preparation, ceremony and reception locations
• Desired photography start and finish
• Separate preparation locations requiring simultaneous coverage
• Estimated guest count and wedding-party structure
• Cultural, religious and family moments that matter most
• Essential family and group photographs
• Couple portrait location and protected portrait time
• Venue rules, access times and photography restrictions
• Pre-wedding session requirement
• Preferred digital delivery and required deadline
• Photobook, canvas, frame or print requirements
• Photography-only or coordinated photo and video coverage
• Privacy and portfolio-use preferences
• Named wedding coordinator and quotation decision-maker
How to compare wedding packages properly
- Compare the exact hours
Write down the start, finish and total coverage time. Confirm whether travel between venues sits inside those hours and how additional time is approved if the programme overruns. - Compare the team
Check how many photographers will attend and what simultaneous activity the team is expected to cover. List videographers separately when video is included. - Compare the delivered photographs
Confirm the editing approach, file resolution, delivery route and expected window. If an image quantity is stated, understand how the photographer selects the final set rather than treating the largest number as automatically better. - Compare physical products
For a wedding photobook , compare its size, pages, cover, copies, design reviews and proofing. Apply the same detail to mounted prints, frames and canvases. - Compare travel and exceptions
Check transport, accommodation, parking, permits, early starts and late finishes. Identify who can authorise extended coverage on the wedding day and the basis for any additional charge. - Compare the booking terms
Read the payment schedule, date reservation, postponement, cancellation, replacement staffing, privacy and portfolio clauses. A lower price with materially different change terms is not the same offer. - Compare the complete commitment
Place included work, optional additions and exclusions beside the total. The best value is the quotation that reliably covers the moments and products you want—not automatically the lowest headline number.
Pre-wedding shoot prices in Kenya
Shammah Media’s provisional pre-wedding photography estimate is KES 15,000–30,000 in the Nairobi area. The final price depends on the session duration, location, travel, access charges, number of outfits, assistance, editing, delivery deadline and required products.
Tell us how you plan to use the images. Invitations, a wedding website, reception display, canvas or guest book may require an earlier selection and a specific crop or print workflow. Several locations and outfits also require more transition time than one focused portrait setting.
A restricted or distant location may add permits, transport or weather planning. Your quotation will state whether the pre-wedding session is independent or part of the main wedding booking and what happens if conditions prevent the planned shoot.
Photography-only or a combined photo and video package?
Choose photography-only when still images are the priority and the budget needs to protect strong coverage, editing and any desired album. Choose a combined package when you also want motion, speeches, sound, a highlight film or longer-form ceremony and reception coverage.
Combining the services can improve coordination, but it does not make the video crew or outputs automatic. The quotation should identify each crew role, the events covered, audio approach, film deliverables, resolution and delivery window.
Drone coverage is also separate unless stated. It depends on the location, permissions, weather, safety and lawful operation, so it should never be assumed from the word “premium.”
Wedding photography travel costs across Kenya
Send exact map locations rather than only the county or nearest town. A venue in a major centre and a remote property within the same county can create very different travel, access and accommodation needs.
Ask whether transport, fuel, driver, flights, transfers, parking, meals, accommodation and permits are included. If the team needs to arrive the previous day or leave the next morning, those arrangements should appear in the quotation.
Shammah Media quotes travel outside Nairobi separately. The aim is to protect timely arrival for non-repeatable ceremony moments, not to add a vague destination premium.
What may not be included in the headline price?
Check for travel beyond the stated area, parking, accommodation, extra hours, second-photographer coverage, pre-wedding photography, permits, urgent delivery, advanced retouching, raw files, albums, prints, frames, canvases and physical-product delivery.
For long wedding days, also clarify meals and breaks where the team cannot leave the venue. Confirm whether taxes and transaction charges are included. A photography quotation does not automatically include coordination of an independent video team, livestream supplier or venue schedule.
No provider necessarily charges every item on this list. The purpose is to make the agreement complete before the date is reserved.
Shammah Media booking and pricing terms
Your written quotation will confirm the exact coverage, team, deliverables, timing and price. Current planning terms use a 14-day quotation validity period, a 50% booking deposit and one consolidated review round. Travel outside Nairobi is quoted separately, and digital working files are normally retained for 90 days.
Availability is not secured by receiving a quotation alone. The booking becomes confirmed through the process and payment terms stated in your agreement. If different terms are agreed for your wedding, the signed quotation takes priority.
Frequently asked questions
How much does wedding photography cost in Kenya?
For 2026 planning, Shammah Media estimates KES 85,000–150,000 for photography-only wedding coverage and KES 160,000–300,000 for coordinated photography and video. Your venues, hours, team, travel and products determine the actual quotation.
What is the average wedding photographer cost?
Published Kenyan packages vary widely because their hours, photographers, albums and video inclusions differ. Use an average only as an early budget signal, then compare written scopes.
What is normally included in a wedding photography package?
Common elements include stated coverage hours, one or more photographers, image selection, editing and digital delivery. Albums, prints, travel, pre-wedding sessions and extra hours depend on the package.
Is a second photographer necessary?
It can be valuable when preparation happens in separate locations, activities overlap, the programme is complex or you want broader guest and detail coverage.
Does “full day” include the entire reception?
Only if the stated start and finish cover it. Ask for exact hours and the process for extending coverage when the programme runs late.
Are raw files included?
Do not assume they are. Confirm the delivered file types and editing scope in the quotation; unselected captures and working files are normally different from the finished image set.
How early should we book?
Enquire once the date and likely venues are known. Availability changes, and the date is secured only through the booking process stated in your quotation.
