Choose the canvas around the room
A size that sounds large in centimetres can still disappear on a broad wall. Start by measuring the clear area above or beside the furniture and consider how far away people will normally view it. Note doors, windows, switches, shelves and neighbouring artwork.
If scale is difficult to imagine, mark the proposed outline with removable tape or a paper template. View it from the normal seating or standing position. A single canvas can create a strong focal point, while two or more pieces may work better across a wide wall or when you want to tell a story with several photographs.
For a set, plan all pieces together. Consistent dimensions, spacing, orientation and image treatment create a collection that feels intentional. Ordering unrelated sizes one at a time often produces a gallery that is harder to balance.

Your photograph must support the enlargement
A picture can look clear on a bright phone screen and still reveal blur, compression or noise when enlarged. File size alone does not guarantee quality. Focus, pixel dimensions, crop and processing all affect how far an image can be taken.
Send the original camera photograph or highest-quality export available. Avoid screenshots, images copied from social media and files repeatedly forwarded through messaging apps. If a professional photographer made the image, request the high-resolution version intended for printing and confirm that you have permission to reproduce it.
We assess the file for the canvas size you are considering. Viewing distance and subject matter can make some limitations less noticeable, but enlargement cannot restore genuine detail that was never captured. If the photograph is unsuitable at the requested size, we can discuss a smaller canvas, a different crop, another image or a layout that uses the file more effectively.
Crop and edge treatment change the final picture
Camera photographs and canvases do not always share the same proportions. Turning a wide photograph into a square canvas, for example, requires cropping, adding space or changing the layout. The full original image cannot always fill a different shape without compromise.
Canvas construction can also use part of the image near the edges. Depending on the available option and approved design, the edge may continue the image, use a mirrored extension or take another visual treatment. You will see the proposed face crop and applicable edge treatment before production.

Colour on a screen and colour on canvas
Screens create colour with light, while printed surfaces reflect the light in the room. Brightness, contrast and colour can therefore feel different on a phone, laptop and physical canvas. Screens also vary according to their settings.
A digital proof is useful for approving content, crop and approximate appearance, but it cannot reproduce the exact surface, scale and lighting of the finished piece. If colour consistency is important for a matched set or branded workplace, tell us at the beginning and share the relevant reference files.
Think about where the canvas will hang. Very dark images may lose impact in a dim corner, while glare or strong direct light can alter how colour is perceived. The room is part of the final viewing experience.
Add text, dates or a collage
A short name, date, message or caption can turn a photograph into a commemorative gift. Supply the exact wording in writing and check every spelling and date on the proof. Text should remain large enough to read and safely away from trim and edge areas.
If you want several photographs in one design, send the original version of every image and identify the most important one. A strong collage uses hierarchy and breathing room instead of squeezing in as many pictures as possible. We will quote any design work required and show the complete layout for approval.
Commercial designs that include logos or campaign content should use approved brand assets. Online availability does not grant permission to reproduce a photograph, illustration or artwork; the person ordering is responsible for ownership or permission.

Your price depends on the finished dimensions, quantity, image preparation, design work, approved construction or finishing, packaging and delivery. A coordinated set requires more layout and consistency work than printing one ready image, while a collage or text design adds artwork preparation.
Send the original file and intended size for a current quotation. Shammah Media’s planning terms use a 14-day quotation validity period, a 50% booking deposit and one consolidated review round. Travel outside Nairobi is quoted separately, and digital working files are normally retained for 90 days. Your signed quotation takes priority wherever different terms are agreed.
