Custom photobooks in Kenya that tell the complete story
Your photographs deserve more than a folder on a screen
A photobook turns separate pictures into one story you can hold. It lets a wedding unfold from anticipation to celebration, gives a graduate’s achievement a lasting record, brings years of family memories together or presents a company milestone with purpose.
Shammah Media designs custom photobooks in Kenya around the people, moments and meaning in your image collection. We help you choose the strongest photographs, organise them into a natural sequence, design balanced pages and approve the complete book before it moves into production.
The result is not a crowded archive of every available picture. It is a considered book in which important photographs receive space, supporting images move the story forward and every name, date and caption has been checked.
Tell us what your photobook should preserve and share your approximate image count, number of copies and required date for a tailored quotation.

Photobooks for occasions, families and organisations

Wedding photobooks
Relive your day through a book that moves from preparations and arrival to the ceremony, portraits, reception and final celebrations. Your selection can centre the couple while keeping the family members, friends, details and atmosphere that made the day yours. Parent copies or another version can be quoted separately when required.

Graduation photobooks
Celebrate the graduate with portraits, ceremony moments, campus details, family groups and the gathering afterwards. We can include an approved name, institution, course and date, giving the achievement a record that feels personal rather than generic.

Family and milestone books
Bring together a newborn session, maternity story, birthday, anniversary, family photoshoot or a defined period of family life. A focused theme helps the book feel complete, whether it covers one day or the growth of a child over several years.

Travel and Kenya keepsakes
Create a visual record of a Kenyan journey, expatriate chapter, family visit or special assignment. Landscape photographs, portraits and small details can be sequenced by location or experience. You supply or approve location names and captions so the book remains accurate.

Corporate and project books
Document an anniversary, completed development, leadership story, conference, campaign or organisational legacy. Corporate books follow approved brand guidelines and use a designated content owner for captions, names, image permissions and final approval.

Memorial and legacy books
Gather photographs, dates and approved written tributes into a lasting family record. The family remains in control of privacy, chronology, names and the final selection. For a separate funeral-programme requirement with a short deadline, see eulogy printing .

Portfolio books
Present selected photography, design, property, architecture or project work in a physical format. A strong portfolio shows range through disciplined selection instead of repeating similar examples.
We help you turn many images into one clear story
You may begin with hundreds or thousands of photographs and no idea how many belong in the book. Start by identifying what the book is for and who will receive it. A couple’s wedding album, a parent copy, a corporate presentation and a family keepsake do not need the same emphasis.
We organise the selection in layers:
Near-duplicates make a book feel repetitive. We choose the strongest expression, composition or interaction unless several frames genuinely show a moment developing. At the same time, visual drama is not the only priority: a family member or project stage may need representation even when its photograph is quieter.
Unique filenames keep feedback precise. “Replace IMG_4281 with IMG_4310” is safer than “use the other smiling photograph.” Once the selection is agreed, the layout can develop on a stable foundation.
- essential photographs of key people and defining moments;
- hero images that deserve a full page or prominent spread;
- short sequences that show an action or progression;
- supporting details that establish place, atmosphere and transition;
- photographs that must remain private or must not appear.

A complete custom-photobook process
Tell us the occasion, intended reader, approximate image count, number of copies and deadline. We confirm whether every copy will be identical or whether separate versions are needed.
Send the final edited photographs at their highest available quality. Keep filenames unchanged and provide captions, logos and text in clearly referenced documents. You must own the images or have permission to reproduce them.
We work from the agreed selection responsibility to remove avoidable repetition and make sure essential people, events or project stages are represented before page design begins.
The images are organised chronologically, thematically or through another structure that suits the book. We identify the opening, chapters, transitions, high points and closing image.
We design within the selected available book format, using a consistent approach to margins, typography, image groups and white space. The cover, title and spine are considered as part of the complete design.
You review the book in order and return one consolidated list of corrections using page numbers and filenames. Check every crop, image, caption, name, date, logo and version.
One authorised person approves the complete book and its production specification. Changes can become limited or chargeable after printing begins, so approval must be explicit.
The approved order moves into production, inspection and the agreed collection or delivery. We check the version, quantity, page order, cover and visible condition before handover.
Wedding photobooks that feel like the day
A wedding book needs more than a strict timetable. It should bring back the people, emotion and atmosphere as well as show what happened. We may open with a sense of place or anticipation, build through preparations and ceremony, give portraits room to breathe, then increase the energy through the reception and celebration.
Tell us which relationships and traditions matter most. If both families need balanced representation, identify the essential groups. Flag private images, sensitive moments and anyone who should not appear. Parent copies can share the main story or use a separately approved selection.
A quiet detail can connect two busy sections, while a strong landscape photograph can establish a venue before close interactions begin. The cover should be chosen early because its image, title and treatment influence how the complete book is perceived.
If Shammah Media is also photographing your wedding, book production remains a separate deliverable with its own image selection, design, proofing, price and timeline. Explore wedding photography in Nairobi if coverage has not yet been arranged.
Graduation and family photobooks with personal detail
A graduation book can move from individual portraits and campus details to the ceremony and family celebration. Send the graduate’s name, institution, qualification and date exactly as they should appear. Check official wording instead of relying on an assumption from the gown or location.
Family books benefit from a clear boundary. You might focus on one photoshoot, a baby’s first year, an anniversary, a birthday or a defined period. Trying to include every photograph across many unrelated years can weaken the narrative and make selection difficult.
Children’s images and personal family information deserve careful privacy decisions. Choose who may receive the book and whether any finished-book photographs may appear in a public portfolio. Private content is not treated as marketing permission.
Page design that gives photographs room to work
More pages do not automatically create a better photobook. Too few can crowd the images; too many can repeat the same moment until it loses impact. The page plan follows the final selection, available book format and desired pace.
Some photographs deserve a page or spread to themselves. Others become stronger in small, related groups. Detail images can support a larger portrait, and intentional white space can slow the reader before an important moment.
Crops respect faces, hands, clothing, architecture and relationships in the original composition. When an image does not match the page proportions, we can crop, use a border or change the layout; we do not stretch it. Important content also stays away from trim and the centre binding area.
Consistent typography, spacing and backgrounds allow the photographs to lead. Heavy decorative themes and unnecessary effects can date quickly or compete with the story.
Captions, names and written tributes
Photobooks can include a title, dedication, date, chapter heading, short caption or longer approved text. Supply final wording in an editable document with clear image or page references.
Verify every name, title, relationship, institution, location and date. Shammah Media will not infer factual details from social media, clothing or filenames. For corporate books, one content owner should approve brand terminology and leadership names. For multilingual books, provide the final approved translations and required language order.
Text length affects page design. Share longer tributes or project narratives before pagination begins so space can be planned. Adding a large block of writing at the final proof stage can displace photographs and change several pages.
Photobook, framed photograph or canvas?
A photobook preserves relationships among many images. A photo frame or mount gives a chosen picture daily visibility, while canvas printing creates another statement presentation. You can order more than one product, but each needs its own approved crop and dimensions.
Product | Best when | Main decision |
Photobook | A sequence of related photographs tells the story | Selection, order, page design, cover and proof |
Photo frame or mount | One image or a small set deserves continual wall presence | Print size, mount, frame and display location |
Canvas print | A selected photograph should become image-led wall art | Source quality, crop, scale and edge treatment |
What affects the price of a photobook?
Your quotation depends on the available book format, page count, number of copies, image-selection work, page and cover design, captions, version changes, proof revisions, production and delivery. Separate parent, department or client versions require their own page changes and approvals.
The most efficient project begins with edited files, a disciplined selection, approved text and one feedback contact. Late image replacements or several conflicting reviewers can cause substantial redesign.
Shammah Media’s current planning terms use a 14-day quotation validity period, a 50% booking deposit and one consolidated review round. Travel outside Nairobi is quoted separately, and digital working files are normally retained for 90 days. Your signed quotation takes priority wherever different terms are agreed.

Timing depends on selection readiness, design, feedback, product availability, quantity and production. Send your required date early so selection and approval deadlines can be included in the schedule.
